DOES STAN HAVE A Ph.D AS HE CLAIMS?

I heard Mr. Telchin speak at my church in Santa Clara, California in 2000.  He mentioned during his testimony his Ph.D. studies and since then, I have learned he does not have a Ph.D.  You mention this on your website but not in great detail.  Did I hear him correctly at my church?  I also heard he was under criminal investigation for claiming to have a Ph.D. Is this true?

- M.J., Santa Clara, California

IS STAN'S DOCTORATE AN EARNED DEGREE?

Stan spoke in my church last year (Christ Community Church) and he was introduced as 'Dr. Telchin' several times.  A couple weeks later in Sunday school class, I was talking about Stan and was told that his doctorate is not earned.  He never told us that when he spoke to us in church.  Would you clarify his doctorate?  Does he have one?  If so, from where? He also told us about his many advanced degrees and yet, I since learned his only training was in acting.  What do you know about all of this?  I was told his doctorate is actually from a degree mill!"

IS STAN ORDAINED AS HE CLAIMS?

I have attended Christ Church in Washington, DC for many, many years and I knew Pastor Jollay very well.  Stan Telchin attended our church in the 1970's - I remember him well but I have no memory at all, none, of Stan being ordained here.  Why is your father claiming to have been ordained here by Pastor Jollay - did I miss something????

Last week I took 'Betrayed!' to my pastor to read and suggested we have Mr. Telchin as a guest speaker in our church.  We are starting a lecture series as an outreach tool and I thought Mr. Telchin would be a great speaker.  My pastor handed the book back to me and told me he was not interested in 'having a liar' speak in our church.  I was stunned and my pastor told me that 'among other things, Stan is not ordained as he says he is. Telchin has an honesty problem.'   I have known of Mr. Telchin for twenty years or so and always assumed he was ordained - he said he was.  Is he ordained?  What is the truth?

- OS., Raleigh, North Carolina

Can you be more specific about why you say your dad is not ordained?  I can't imagine a minister of the Gospel saying he is ordained when he is not.

STAN CLAIMS MILLIONS OF PEOPLE HAVE READ HIS BOOK - WHAT IS THE TRUTH?

I attend Church of Hope in Sarasota, Florida where Stan attends and he said that "more than 10 million" people have read his book "Betrayed!"   At least four people in church have since made comments that Stan is exaggerating.  Your comments?

- N.G., Sarasota, Florida

I almost laughed out loud when your father bragged from the pulpit about 14 million people having read his book.  Where does he come up with this stuff?

- B.K., Atlanta, Georgia

It was curious to hear Mr. Telchin's comments about how many millions upon millions of people have read his book.  What was so curious was you would expect to see that boldly printed on the cover - which it is not.  I got my nerve up and called the publisher who would not confirm what Mr. Telchin said.  Do you have the sales number for his book?  I think he is lying.

- L.N., Silver Spring, Maryland

I was shocked, absolutely shocked, when I heard Stan Telchin say that "millions" of people had read his book.  I called the publisher, Chosen Books, and I also called the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association who tracks sales.  Chosen Books and the ECPA could not say what Stan Telchin said was true.  Is Chosen Books aware of what he is saying in public?

- C.L., Chicago, Illinois

Your dad made an astonishing claim at my church when he spoke about his book saying millions of people had read it.  I commented to him directly afterwards questioning what he said.  He got real defensive and said that each copy is read by at least ten people.  Now how in the world does he know how many people read each copy?

DID STAN LIE ABOUT THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF HIS CONVERSION?

I invited my neighbors to hear Stan speak at my church and we really enjoyed it.  My joy was tempered though when I found out that Stan lied during his testimony about a family member sneaking Bibles into his study.  Are you aware of what Stan represented and how do you feel about it?

- S.A., Venice, Florida

STAN WILL BE SPEAKING AT MY CHURCH - WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I live in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, where Stan is to speak next Sunday night (April 23, 2006 - St. Stephen's Episcopal Church).  I've invited a Jewish friend to attend, as I've been trying to speak to her about Jesus Christ for many years.  After she uncovered the website, www.atoxicfaith.com, and all the damaging things written there, she is reluctant to go now.  Any suggestions?

                                                                                    - A Member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church

Church of Hope is my home church and my pastor is Scott Young.  Your father is going to speak in our church this coming March 15, 2006.  I am really uncomfortable with him doing this and assuming a spiritual leadership position in my church.  I have known Stan... for years as he attends here and I am very angry over what he has done to his family and the witness of Jesus Christ.  There has been a lot of talk among people here about how he handled his home group and other controversies including the legal action he took against you.  What do you suggest I do?  I feel it is not appropriate for Stan to be speaking in my church under these circumstances.

WAS STAN 'MAN OF THE YEAR' AT HEBREW HOME FOR THE AGED IN WASHINGTON, D.C. AS HE CLAIMS?

There was a real public controversy after your father spoke at  Calvary Chapel Crossfields in Plainsboro, New Jersey a few weeks back.  He appeared there during the Jews for Jesus Behold Your God campaign.  He said he was chosen as "Man of The Year" for the Hebrew Home For The Aged in Washington, DC.  I have since learned he lied.  What do you know about this matter?

-N.K., Plainsboro, New Jersey

STAN DENIES A CHURCH FILED A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT AGAISNT HIM - WHAT IS THE TRUTH?

I live in Tampa and visited Terrace Palms Community Church (www.terracepalms.org) a couple times.  On one Sunday there was an announcement in the Sunday bulletin that the church had filed a criminal complaint about Mr. Telchin's visit to the church.  I have heard a great deal about this in the community but have also heard that Mr. Telchin denies it ever happened.  Would you clarify the situation?
