Not only did Stan use donor money to pay for the ministry telephone, he also used donor money to pay for his home and cell phones.  He did this without board approval according to the treasurer, who did the audit.

The treaurer and board member of Stan Telchin Ministries comments, September and November, 2002:

"At the special board meeting on January 25, 2001, Stan requested the board approve paying for his cell phone from ministry funds. As I recall, Rev. Rosen modified the motion (made by Jim Capo) to require Stan to pay for excess calls in the event of extensive overuse. Although somewhat puzzled, I voted to approve this motion, which was unanimously passed (STM board minutes for 1/25/01, page 1).

Why was I puzzled?  Stan was already having the ministry pay for his cell phone: $926.91 in 1999, and $1,056.89 in 2000. That's almost $2,000 worth of ministry funds he used, apparently without authorization.  I suggest you ask Stan to explain."

"Regarding the phone and cable charges, I'd point out that no way could these be considered legitimate (at least in the year 2000) as he also collected a housing allowance, which specifically says is to include utilities in the amount paid.  He simply 'double dipped' from Stan Telchin Ministries. There is no authorization for cell phone use until January 2001 - after he'd already spent a couple thousand dollars for cell phone bills which he paid from the Stan Telchin Ministries account."
